Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the Company. By creating an account, signing in, or using Lumi, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Lumi.

1. Who may use Lumi

• Lumi is a voice-based speaking and thinking companion designed for children ages 3–10, to be set up and supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
• Accounts may be created and operated only by an adult who is at least 18 years old and is the parent or legal guardian of every child added to the account. Lumi is not intended for a child to sign up for, or use unsupervised.
• By using Lumi you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.

2. Parental role and consent

• When you add a child and enter details about them, you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent, on the child's behalf, to the collection and use of their information as described in our Privacy Policy.
• You are responsible for supervising your child's use of Lumi and for the security of the Google account used to sign in.
• You may withdraw consent and delete a child's profile and transcripts at any time from Parent Corner, or by contacting us (Section 16).

3. Your account

You sign in using Google, through our authentication provider, Clerk. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google account secure, as it controls access to your Lumi account and everything in it. One parent account may hold multiple children's profiles. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Free trial, plans, and payment

• Free trial. New accounts receive 7 days of full access from the time the account is created, at no cost.
• After the trial. Continued access requires an active paid plan (—). Pricing is shown on the payment screen inside the app.
• How payment works. Payment is collected via UPI. You scan the QR code (or use the UPI link) shown in the app, pay from your own UPI app, and then submit your UPI transaction reference. Activation is manual: we verify the payment and enable access, ordinarily within 2–4 hours of receiving a valid reference. Access is not automatic on payment.
• Accuracy of payment details. You are responsible for paying the correct amount to the correct UPI ID shown in the app and for submitting an accurate transaction reference. We are not responsible for payments made to any other UPI ID or for references that cannot be matched to a received payment.
• Taxes. Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
• Changes. We may change trial length, pricing, or plan structure going forward and will aim to give reasonable notice of material changes. Changes do not apply retroactively to access you have already paid for.
• Refunds. Except where required by law, payments for access already activated are non-refundable. If you paid but were not activated, or were charged in error, contact us (Section 16) and we will investigate and refund verified errors.

5. Children's privacy

Protecting children's information is central to Lumi. The details are in our separate Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary:

• Lumi never asks a child for their last name, address, school name, phone number, or any way to be found or contacted.
• Lumi never suggests meeting up, exchanging contact details, or keeping secrets from parents/caregivers.
• Speech-to-text is processed in the browser; Lumi's spoken replies are generated by a cloud text-to-speech provider from reply text only. We never store audio recordings of your child's voice.
• We do not sell personal information, do not serve advertising to children, and do not use children's data for behavioural tracking or profiling.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to allow anyone to:

• use Lumi to attempt to extract personal information about other users;
• attempt to jailbreak, prompt-inject, or otherwise manipulate the AI into producing content that is not age-appropriate, or into behaving as a general-purpose assistant;
• abuse, overload, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the service, or exceed reasonable usage;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, prompts, or API keys;
• resell, sublicense, or provide access to the service to third parties;
• use Lumi for any unlawful purpose or any purpose inconsistent with a safe product for young children.

7. AI content and its limitations

Lumi's replies are generated by artificial intelligence and pass through an automated safety check before being shown, but no automated system is perfect. Lumi is a play-and-practice companion, not a substitute for professional educational assessment, speech therapy, medical, or mental-health support, and not a substitute for active adult supervision. If a child discloses that they are hurt, scared, or unsafe, Lumi is designed to gently encourage them to tell a trusted adult. If you see a reply that concerns you, please stop the session and report it to us (Section 16).

8. Intellectual property

Lumi, including its name, the "Lumi" character, its software, prompts, and design, is owned by the Company and protected by applicable law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Lumi for your family's own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

9. Disclaimers

Lumi is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Company and its directors, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Lumi. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us for access in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of Lumi or your breach of these Terms.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Lumi and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that we reasonably believe pose a safety or security risk, or where required by law. On termination, your right to use Lumi ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (e.g. Sections 8–11) will survive.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Lumi changes (for example, when plans or features change). We will update the "Effective date" above and, for material changes, aim to provide notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any non-waivable rights you have under local law, the courts at — will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service.
